That's the whole point isn't it? Casual players who weren't lucky enough to get a perfect drop didn't have the plat to buy one.

Greens rule! if greens are taken out of gw2 i would cry literally. they are perfect cheap weapons for the middle class PvE player! and if u take them away they would struggle to have a nice weapon or off hand without it coming from collector. even if they did buy sword from collectors the mods are still way over priced anyway for e.g +30 hp for sword! 30k near abouts? maybe 25k? i mean come on taking greens away from game would create a riot for the people who dont have 100k+ in the bank

greens are fun when you get one...
Most of them aren't that great, but having one drop for you is always exciting. So the prices of them go down, who cares. Whats wrong with selling them low to people who are gonna use them.
I don't sit and sell all day, but if I see someone wanting one I have in the trade channel I let them have it at a bargain price. So I say keep the greens!!
Somebody has to be nice in the game.

I personally am hoping for an entire new set up for weapons. I hope Anet comes up with something new and original and not just carries over what we have in GW1. It is a brand new game so I am hoping for a brand new weapons system.
I am curious how the "no level cap" will affect our weapons and our armor. How will a level 89 warriors armor be different from a level 27 warrior? Will their swords have the same base damage and let their attribute points be the increaser to that damage? Maybe they will give more options for crafting better weapons?
I dunno. I like greens and all for GW1 but I would choose a whole new system for a whole new game.

Greens are perfect, both in stats and in their contribution to the game. Do not remove them. I've seen lots of of people trying to argue that they sould be removed because in the previous system a perfect item was "so expensive that most of people just couldn't aford to buy it." Thats oddly the reason I'd argue to keep them. Guild Wars has strong roots in the concept of skill over time played. Giving the best weapons to only a select few who either are very lucky or spend day and night grinding would be a step in the wrong direction. Don't give in the people who want to be elitist pricks in a game.

You think 30k is much?
30K is so easy to get just play through NF and you'll have about 100k of drops without even farming.
Greens ruin the economy. period.

I'm guessing it ruined the game because it took money out of his pocket? Cause beyond that reason I do not see how Greens "ruined the game".

greens were an excellent addition to gw, no doubt about it.
If it wasnt for greens, i would never have known the greatness of the sephis axe skin(razorstone ftw) or how utterly bad sundering is(victos ftl)
But yeah, greens allowed many players without the time to make hundreds of k to get perfect weapons.
As for ruinging the economy, no they fixed it, they made everything more affoardable, rather than just the rich being able to affoard them.
Claiming greens ruinined the economy is like claiming the printing press ruined the booke economy, because they suddenly became cheaper, and hence available to more people.

Greens (and the max stat/mod collector items) should be in the game and GW2.
Yes it lowers the price of gold perfect (it creates an cheap alternative) but that is the way it suppose to be.
Skill vs Grind, you don't have to grind massive platinum to get a top notch weapon but grind for that perfect gold with that awesome skin.
I do think Greens and Collector (paid with monster drops) should be in GW2.
Reserve cool looking skins for rare gold drops.
Greens made the game better, not worst, imho.

I'd say greedy people selling golds at ultra high prices ruined the economy. Greens helped the average player get something good.

Greens "ruin" the game?
Not for me. I'm a casual player. I started playing in July, 2005. Now, how many hours I've accrued in 20 months of playing? A little over 600 hours.
30 hours a month. My first Green was the Dragoncrest Axe from Factions. It really was a cool experience, both beating the campaign, and then getting a decent reward for it.
So, how does my Dragoncrest Axe ruin your perfect Chaos Axe in terms of value? It doesn't. It's relatively cheap and easy to get a Dragoncrest Axe, it's very hard to farm the equivalent in a rare skin.
And that's the point: Skins are what matters; along with Stats.
Anyway, I suspect this entire issue will be moot, because we have no idea how weapons will work in GW2. Will their be Max values? Will there be Mods or Incriptions, or some new system?
So, maybe there won't be Greens in GW2. Maybe there will be something better....

I half agree with the op. I think the problem isnt that greens exist, its the number of greens which exist. When there was only sf greens i feel that was comfortable, now theres just too many, too wider choice.

Well, what's the point of only a few Greens existing?
In order to be useful, every combo of weapon should exist as a Green.

Greens were a great addition to the game.
Every boss in all the campaigns (including Tyria) should have a green item or two.

If every single boss had one, it'd be a nightmare trying to find out the values of them. Hell, it's difficult even now. It's always safe to assume the ones you see spammed the most are cheapest though. :P

I've been playing since about a month after release and i have to say no GREENS, no INSCRIPTIONS. They ruin the game for me and after trying out Nightfall, i went straight back to Prophecies. It just makes it way too easy for ANYONE to get nice weapons right away. I remember the time where when i got an 'OK' gold, i was freaking out! It was exciting and seemed like a real achievement when i actually got something nice. Now, it feels as if when i get a 'OK' item that i might as well sell it to the merchant cause nobody will buy it . The inscriptions did the same thing too, its too easy to get nice items with 15^50 mods, before when i saw a guy selling a weapon with that mod, i envied him to the point where i wanted to just LOOK at the item it was so nice...all i can say is, i REALLY REALLY miss those days.......
